Story
Venkatadri (Venkatesh) a is a trusted man for Varadarajula Naidu (Prakash Raj).
On his request, Venkatadri joins as a bodyguard to his college going daughter
Keerthi (Trisha) to protect her from his rival (Kota Srinivasa Rao). He will be
escorting her to the college. But Keerthi feels it as a headache and to get rid
of him, she starts teasing him inspite of her friend Swathi (Saloni) warning.
Keerthi starts making anonymous calls to him, as a girl who is in love with
him and makes fun. But finally she ends up in loving Venkatadri seriously.
One fine day Varadarajula Naidu comes to know about their love and things
get serious. Did Venky find his secret girl friend? What follows is the rest of the
story?
Performance
Bodyguard is a tailor made script for Venkatesh and it’s a cakewalk to him.
The character showcases love, happiness, comedy, sorrow and all other
emotions equally and one has to agree Venkatesh is the right choice for the
movie. He has made theater split in laughter with his lady getup in which
he shakes leg for Poovai Poovai number.
Trisha is fascinating and she has delivered her best in performance. While the
first half showcase her funny and naughty side, the second half brings emotional
side to the film.
Saloni in the role of Swathi as Trisha’s friend performed very well. Prakash Raj
is regular, Pragathi is alright. Ali and Venu Madhav are hilarious, Kota Srinivasa
Rao is good, Subbaraju is fine.
Technical Analysis
Shyam K Naidu’s cinematography is good and the movie looked rich in
each frame. Thaman’s songs are soothing and a couple of songs are shot
in scenic locales, the background score elevated the scenes. Gopichand
Malineni’s direction is good, the story is similar to the remake and had
no big changes so is the screenplay, dialogues are amazing and special
mention to Kona Venkat, also fights were choreographed well.
Analysis
Director Gopichand Malineni stuck to the original version script without
many changes making it a genuine remake. Bodyguard is a simple story
with an unexpected twist in the end but what makes you fairly engaging
and connects to the movie is the interplay of characters, emotional content,
ease in narration and engaging dialogues. Also, Bodyguard has all the
commercial elements, high voltage action sequences, the comedy is handled
well, songs were shot in beautiful and scenic locales. First half of the film is
packed with fights, romance, and humor while the second half is an emotional
galore and the climax is an asset for the film. Bodyguard has its own flaws but
can be overlooked on a whole.
Final Verdict
A perfect Pongal outing for family audiences.

Businessman movie review

 Rating : 3.5/5
Director : Puri Jagannadh
Producer : Venkat
Music Director : Thaman S
Starring: Mahesh Babu, Kajal,Prakash Raj,Shayaji Shinde,Nazar
Prince Mahesh Babu’s Businessman has hit the screens today amidst unprecedented
frenzy and hype. The movie has been directed by Puri Jagan and this is the first time
Mahesh and Puri have come together after the record breaking Pokiri. Kajal is the
heroine in this film. Let us see how the movie stacks up.
Story :
Surya (Mahesh Babu) is an extremely intelligent and ambitious man who comes to
Mumbai with a burning desire to become the most powerful Mafia Don of the city.
He comes in at a time when Mumbai commissioner Bharadwaj (Nasser) proudly
claims to have wiped out the “Bhai’s” from the city. Surya sets about achieving his
objectives in a methodical and calculated manner by grabbing power from the grassroots
in a clever and innovative manner. He allies with a local politician Laloo (Shayaji Shinde)
and helps him gain power. From then on starts Surya's rise as the most influential
Don in India. In the meantime, he is also in love with Chitra (Kajal), who happens to
be the daughter of Bharadwaj. Surya's meteoric rise is not taken easily by opposing
politicians(led by Prakash Raj) and they start scheming to bring him down. Prakash Raj
and Surya also share a past. What is it? Will Surya realize his dreams? That is the story.
Plus Points :
Mahesh Babu is simply amazing in the role of Surya. His dialogue delivery and
expressions will send a tingle down your spine. He exudes pure menace when giving a
'dhamki' to his opponents. He has shown nice variations in his performance. And he
looks stunningly handsome as usual. Mahesh Babu shoulders this movie on his own.
The swagger, the attitude and his panache will be a big draw.
Kajal Aggarwal looks gorgeous as Chitra and she has some interesting moments
with Mahesh Babu. She does not have much scope for performance however.
Puri Jagan is the other invisible hero of the movie. Take a bow sir, for some of the
best dialogues seen in recent times. Each dialogue explodes like a bullet and when
delivered by Mahesh Babu, the result is devastatingly effective. The movie is high
on entertainment factor and there is hardly a boring moment in the film. The sequences
where Mahesh Babu sets about establishing his dominance are highly innovative.
All the songs have been picturized well but 'Sir Osthara' song and 'Chandamama'
stand out for their sheer beauty. The much talked about kiss with Kajal has been
shot very beautifully and aesthetically. Shwetha Bharadwaj has sizzled in the item
number. She has a bright future in the industry. Nazar, Prakash Raj and Shayaji
Shinde are ok.
Minus Points :
Some cinematic liberties have been taken with respect to logic and events. The bank
robbery scene is very rustic and looks outdated, especially in this age of high tech
crime. The climax could have been a lot better. The incredible momentum built up
for election scene has fizzled out.
The romantic track has a remarkable similarity to Pokiri, both in its setting and presentation.
There is also no comedy to speak of, which might hinder a few family crowds. There are
some vulgar dialogues which could have been avoided. Heroine's friend is a major irritant.
Technical Aspects :
Dialogues..Dialogues and Dialogues...They are an incredible asset to the movie. The timing
is perfect and the punch is incredible. Cinematography is good. Editing is neat. Fights and
songs have been composed well.
Screenplay is highly entertaining and narration is fast paced.
Verdict :
Businessman is Mahesh Babu's show all the way. And what a show it is. He just
towers over the movie with his sheer presence and he is aided by some incredible
dialogues from Puri Jagan. The film is high on entertainment quotient. Ignore some
of the illogical sequences and the holes in the plots and you are in for a highly enjoyable
ride. This is as good as paisa vasool entertainers get. Go and have fun with your
friends this weekend. You will enjoy this flick.
